In 1999 Peter Dunthorne and David Hooker created a road haulage company called DJH. They both previously worked at the old Cubitt and Walker mill, delivering dedicated bulk blown feed to Various poultry breeding units in East Anglia. The job then involved a bonding system and required a very high level of on farm bio-security.
The business operates from North Walsham in Norfolk. From here the vehicles travel throughout the UK usually leaving on a Monday and return on the following Friday.
Following the success of this operation, the company diversified and grew until today there are six employed drivers as well as Peter and David, who deliver nationwide and also into Europe. Most of the major feed companies or livestock growers as well as Maltsters use DJH for all kinds of bulk blown and sucker recovery requirements. The diversity is now reflected by a substantial operation delivering wood chip and wood pellets to many various homes and businesses that have wood fired boiler systems.
All the business that DJH is controlled by strict regulations regarding vehicle/trailer/driver cleanliness and adherence to customer’s bio-security requirements. DJH have a reputation for presenting vehicles for work in the highest possible state of appearance, so much so that the directors and drivers often take the fleet to truck shows where they have achieved many awards.
Today the fleet is comprised of eight artic combinations and nine trailers as well as one eight wheeler for the wood pellet operation and a sub- contractor with an artic and special trailer for wood chip deliveries.
